Yvonne M. (Chapman) Christie

Yvonne Maxine (Chapman) Christie, age 90 of Hastings, passed away peacefully at Regina Medical Center in Hastings on Friday, June 9, 2023.

She was born to James Roy and Anna Marie Chapman on September 25, 1932 in Faribault, MN, she married Curtis Waverly Christie on November 15, 1952 at the Fourth Avenue United Methodist Church in Faribault, MN. Yvonne graduated from Faribault High School with the class of 1951. Faith was integral to her life, and she was an active member of the Methodist church for over 70 years where she participated in choir and many church activities. She enjoyed needle work, bridge, traveling, and 24 winters in Arizona hiking and square dancing with Curtis. Yvonne treasured her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She had a gift for building family traditions and making the holidays special.

Yvonne was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Curtis; parents, James & Anna; sisters, Adella Ponto, Vera Whaley, Irene Hargens and Annabelle Tilly; brothers, Irad, Gordon and Harry; son-in-law, David Coykendall.

She is survived by her children, Sandra Christie of Minneapolis, Warren (Becky) of Sauk Rapids, Beverly (Frank Rhame) Christie of Minneapolis, and Kenneth (Karol) of Colorado Springs, CO; grandchildren, Elizabeth (Alex Domagall) Coykendall, Jeremy (Denise) Christie, Amber (Kelly) Christie, Allen (Haley) Chace, Kevin (Lillie Sheely) Chace, Daniel Christie and Catherine Christie; great-grandchildren, Lauren, Jackson and Theodore Christie, William and Ada Christie, Miriam and James Chace; brother, Frances (Joan) Chapman of Glencoe; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A Celebration of Yvonne's Life will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 24, 2023, at Resurrection United Methodist Church in Hastings, with Pastor Mark Miller officiating. Private family interment will be held at Maple Lawn Cemetery in Faribault.

Family and friends are cordially invited to a visitation for one hour prior to the service, and to a reception immediately following the service, all at the church on Saturday, June 24.
