William Walter Engeldinger

William (Bill)(Pops) Engeldinger, age 65, of Hastings, MN. Bill courageously battled cancer and peacefully passed away on February 7, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.

Bill was born on April 12, 1958, in Red Wing, Minnesota, to Donald and Mary Lou (Tebbe) Engeldinger. After living in Sauk Centre, the family eventually settled in Hastings. Bill had a deep love for hockey and enjoyed playing the sport for fun. He embraced an adventurous spirit and reveled in outdoor activities, whether it was clearing debris, tending to gutters, or engaging in heartfelt conversations with everyone he met. Bill had a kind and welcoming demeanor, making him a true friend to all.

On August 1, 1979, Bill married Deborah Chandler, in Hastings, MN. Their union blessed them with three children: Mike, Angie, and Katie. Family meant the world to Bill, and his grandchildren held a special place in his heart. Austin, Tori, Elise, Taylor, Peyton, Kamarra, and Emma brought immeasurable joy to his life. Bill had a unique ability to bring smiles and laughter to children, which led him and Deborah to run a daycare for over three decades.

Bill will always be fondly remembered for his youthful spirit, vibrant personality, and his knack for being a jokester. He had an insatiable curiosity and a childlike sense of wonder, making life an exciting adventure for him and everyone around him. His infectious laughter could brighten up any room he entered. Bill leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories that will be treasured by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Deborah Engeldinger; brothers, Brian and Tom Engeldinger.

Left to cherish his memory are his son, Mike (Ashley) Engeldinger of Hastings; daughters, Angie (Scott) Brantner of Plum City, WI, and Katie Golding of Hastings; grandchildren, Austin, Tori, Elise, Taylor, Peyton, Kamarra, and Emma; his best friend of 53 years, Dean Anderson; sisters, Cathy Morris, Mary (David) Malecha, Nancy Iverson; brothers, Craig (Helen) Engeldinger and Kevin (Paula) Engeldinger, as well as numerous other relatives and friends.

A celebration of Bill's life will be held on Tuesday, February 13th at 11:00 am at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel, 3075 Vermillion St, Hastings, MN, with a visitation one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made in Bill's name to support his grandchildren.
