William "Bill" F. Thuet

June 26, 1947 — November 27, 2023

William "Bill" F. Thuet, 76, of Hastings, Minnesota passed away peacefully at home on November 27, 2023. Bill was born on June 26, 1947 in St. Paul to Marion (Nan) and Paul A.Thuet, Jr. He graduated from South St. Paul High School in 1965. He attended the University of Minnesota-Duluth and later graduated with a Juris Doctorate from the University of Minnesota Law School in 1972. He practiced private law from 1972-1983. In 1975, Bill and Linda moved to Hastings where Bill then joined O'Connell Law Firm, serving the Hastings community. In March of 1983, he was appointed by Governor Perpich as a First Judicial District Court Judge and remained a judge until his retirement in 2009. He was married to Linda Madsen on August 30, 1969 and they were blessed with 3 children, Chad, Paige and Suzanne.

Bill enjoyed spending decades at the family cabin on Bone Lake in Luck, Wisconsin. His lawn mower, the "clear ticket", and his golf cart, were two of his most prized possessions at "The Lake." Grilling outdoors, pontoon rides, visiting with neighbors, bean bag, and campfires with his family were his favorite activites. Fireworks were a fam fav, no safety measurements involved. He also cherished his time fishing in Canada and loved getting a chance to take his son and eventually his grandsons on these trips. Bill loved the holidays, specifically Christmas with the spirit of Santa Claus and the love of giving. Above all, his children and his grandchildren were his greatest achievements. He attended countless games, celebrations, and events with pride. Bill was generous, compassionate, and a hard working man, while still embracing all the fun life offered. His wit and sarcasm brought laughter to many. He and Linda enjoyed traveling and visited many countries, but Bill's heart was always at Walt Disney World where he took his kids and grandkids multiple times. He deeply cherished the friendships he made, the lives he touched, and the people he met along the way. His love of dogs was legendary and he will be excitedly greeted by all his dogs who have crossed the "Rainbow Bridge".

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; and brother Stephen P. Thuet.

He will be deeply missed by his wife Linda (or as Bill would say, his "Bride") of 54 years; children, Chad (Teresa) Thuet, Paige Hood, Suzanne (Jose) Silva; grandchildren Julia, Jace, Carson, Nicolaus, Emily, Joey; and many beloved friends.
