Wayne Peine

October 9, 1943 — October 9, 2024

Wayne Peine celebrated his 81st birthday by crossing over to his eternal home on October 9th, 2024.

Wayne was born in Cannon Falls, MN on October 9th, 1943, to Clarence & Veronica Peine. He was a graduate of Bethlehem Academy in Fairbault and the University of Wisconsin-Stout. Following his graduation from college, Wayne’s career in textile and garment manufacturing led him to leave Minnesota for the southern states, ultimately settling in Texas, where he learned the difference between a being a “Yankee” (a Minnesotan in Texas) and a “Damn Yankee” (a Minnesotan who goes to Texas and doesn’t leave).

Wayne was known for practical jokes, strong opinions, and the ability to find great entertainment in his own unique wit. He enjoyed trips to Vegas and strategizing the movements of the stock market.

Wayne is survived by daughters, Stacy (Jeff) Shelton and Heather (James) Pipkin; granddaughters, Jessica, Jenna, and Ashton Shelton, Ainsley and Emerson Pipkin, and grandson Riley Pipkin. In addition to his family in Texas, Wayne is also survived by his Minnesota family; sisters Kathy Blesener, Char Bauer, Glenyce (Reese) Doffing, and brother Joel Peine; as well as 3 nieces and 4 nephews.

Wayne’s final years of life were immeasurably enriched by the dedicated advocacy, unfailing humor, and patient presence of his many care givers as he navigated life while fighting the battle against dementia. He will be especially missed by the residents and staff of The Ridge at Frisco in Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister, and brothers-in-law, Willie Bauer and Dennis Blesener.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 3:00 p.m., Monday, October 21, 2024 at the Regina Chapel in Hastings, with Father Michael Tix officiating.  Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in New Trier.

Arrangements are being completed by Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings.
