Waldo (Wally) Sidney Lindell, 93, of Hastings, MN, passed peacefully into the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ February 4, 2023 at Regina Long Term Care.
Wally was born on August 30, 1929 in Rush City, MN, the third born son of six to Helmer and Edna Lindell. Wally, a proud Swede, grew up on a farm in Rock Creek, MN, where he learned the value of hard work. His love for farming and animals continued throughout his life. Wally survived the 1946 Bulbar Polio outbreak and was treated by Sister Kenny, an Australian bush nurse. After, graduating from Rush City High School in 1947, he served in the Army Reserves and the Korean War, receiving a Bronze Star for his service. Wally then attended the University of Minnesota completing business classes which contributed to his success as an entrepreneur.
He worked in multiple banking organizations in the Twin Cities (Vice President at Northern Federal and Ben Franklin Federal) and later brought that experience to Artic Enterprises as Credit Manager in real estate with Edina Realty and Century 21. On March 9, 1979 Wally married his wife, Bonita Caldwell. Owned and operated Lindell Carriage Company where he brought joy to many from 1988 until 2011. He was involved in many weddings, corporate parties, annual parades, as well as being a prominent fixture outside the St. Paul Hotel, giving rides around Rice Park and the downtown area.
Wally was a member of Woodbury Baptist Church in MN. He served on the Trustee Board and Welcome Committee. His Christian faith grew through multiple Bible studies and developed many friendships, even being Thaddeus in a performance of the Last Supper. He was a member of the St. Paul and Stillwater Chamber of Commerce, and the Carriage Operators of North America (CONA).
Wally was preceded in death by his parents, Helmer and Edna Lindell; sons, Eric (Rick) and Kirk Lindell; five brothers, Leonard (Lillian), Norman (Bernadine), Merle, Lloyd, and Rod (Mary).
Wally is survived by his wife Bonita; daughters, Barbara (Bob) Woodruff, Sheila (Dan) Weigel, Angela Towner, Brenda Lindell, Kristen (Eric) Stone; sons, John and Steven Lindell; daughter-in-law, Rose Lindell; sister-in-law, Marian Lindell; eleven grandchildren, Sam (Sara) Waddle, Jonathan (Dani) Waddle, Sarah (Brandon) Million, Amanda Towner, Heather (Kiara) Towner, Cheyenne Lindell, Justin Heyerdahl, Julia Lindell, Anna Lindell, Israel Stone, Bella Stone; seven great grandchildren, Badgley, Suri, Foster, Fallon, Simone, Cora and Lennox; and many special nieces and nephews, their spouses, cousins and friends.

A funeral service will be at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, February 13, 2023 at Woodbury Baptist Church in Woodbury, MN with a visitation one hour prior. Military honors and a reception will be held at the church following the service. Interment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery at 1:45 P.M.
