Vern Allan Longhenry, beloved father, educator, and outdoors enthusiast, passed away from health complications on 3/08/2024 in Bloomer, WI. He was 60 years old.
Born in St. Croix Falls, WI, Vern spent his formative years in the embrace of nature, which instilled in him a deep appreciation for the outdoors. He attended St. Croix Falls schools, where he cultivated his love for learning and community involvement.
Vern pursued his passion for education, earning a master’s degree in education and counseling from UW Stout. Throughout his career, he dedicated himself to shaping young minds, imparting not only academic knowledge but also valuable life lessons. His commitment to his profession extended beyond the classroom, as he played an instrumental role in raising his two children, James, and Elizabeth.
Family meant everything to Vern, and he cherished every moment spent with his children. He was a pillar of emotional support, always ready to express his love and affection. Vern's warm and caring nature created a home filled with laughter, love, and shared memories.
An avid supporter of Wisconsin sports teams, Vern found joy in cheering for his favorite teams alongside his family. His love for music knew no bounds, with a special affinity for artists like The Eagles, Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show, Elton John, and Hank Williams. Vern's eclectic taste in music enriched the lives of those around him, fostering a shared appreciation for the melodies that resonated with his soul.
Vern's passion for storytelling extended beyond the classroom; he taught his children life lessons through the lens of popular culture, often engaging in spirited discussions based on movie quotes. He valued every opportunity to bond with his family, whether through outdoor adventures, music-filled gatherings, or simple moments of togetherness in the comfort of their home.
Vern's legacy lives on through his daughter, Elizabeth, son-in-law, Jamison, son, James, daughter-in-law, Mariah, and all those who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for his unwavering love, wisdom, and the profound impact he had on the lives he touched.
