Thomas "Tom" A. Keto

Thomas “Tom” Keto, age 81, of Hastings, MN was called home by his Heavenly Father on March 12 at Regina/Benedictine Community Living Hastings, MN.

Tom was born in Joliet, IL on March 29th, 1942 to Albert and Matilda Keto (nee Jahneke) and was lovingly raised by his parents Herman and Matilda Borment on a dairy farm near Emerald, rural Saint Croix County, WI. Tom was a member of the FFA and planted an orchard of apple, plum and pear trees. He graduated from Glenwood City WI High School in 1961. Tom then joined the United States Navy and was posted to the USS Wasp (CV-18) based in Boston, MA. While in New England, Tom met the love of his life: Carla Jean Smith. They were married September 12, 1965 in Quincy, MA and were blessed with 49 years together until Carla’s passing on December 11, 2014. They welcomed daughters Donna Jean in 1967 and Alanna Beth in 1972. Tom and Carla relocated from Quincy, MA to the Twin Cities living in Hopkins and Bloomington prior to Regina/Benedictine Community Living in Hastings.

He is preceded in death by his parents and wife, Carla.

Tom is survived by his daughters, Donna (husband Stew) Jordison, Frederick, CO and Alanna Keller (husband Joe Aho) River Falls, WI; grandchildren, Mark, Scott and Matthew Jordison of Frederick; Dan (Bree) Keller of Arvada, CO; Ian, Madeline and Marissa Keller of River Falls; brothers, Dennis (Pam) Keto and Otto Bormet; and sisters, Helena and Dorothy Bormet.

The family is grateful for the years of friendship, warmth and kindness shown by the staff, volunteers and residents of Regina/Benedictine Care in Hastings. Tom loved and cared for them and brought humor and joy to all.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 18 at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel, 3075 Vermillion Street, Hastings MN 55033 with a visitation starting an hour prior at 1:00 p.m. with a meal and refreshments to follow after the service. A private interment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery at a later date.
