Thomas M. Maher

Thomas M. Maher, age 79, of Hastings, passed away January 12, 2023.

He was born in South St. Paul on May 9, 1943 to Thomas and Monica (Schaffer) Maher. Tom was a proud member of the US Navy who served his country in the Vietnam War and was a proud Vietnam Veteran. After his time in the Navy, he and his brother Terry took over their father’s business, Maher Well Drilling and served Hastings and the surrounding communities. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. No matter where he went, he always left an impression with everyone he met.

Tom “Soft Rock” was preceded in death by his daughter, Melissa “Missy”; parents: Thomas and Monica (Shaffer) Maher, twin brother, Terry “Hard Rock”; sister, Annie Williams; and nephews, John Gahler and Brian Fanslow.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; daughters, Christina (Justin) Sieben, Amanda (Scott) Dunkel, and Jessica (Joe) Belisle; grandchildren, Caitlin Sieben, Alexandra (Lucas) DeWall, Colton Dunkel, and Tom Belisle; sister, Sheila (Mike) Gahler; brother in law, Eugene Williams; good friend, Bert Fritz; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday January 16, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel, 3075 Vermillion St. in Hastings. A visitation will be held 2 hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
