Theresa A. (Teuber) Downey

Theresa A. (Teuber) Downey, age 92 of Cottage Grove and formerly of Hastings, died peacefully at White Pines Assisted Living on Tuesday morning, March 19, 2024.

Theresa Ann, the daughter of Vincent and Catherine (Siebenaler) Teuber, was born on September 16, 1931, in New Trier. Following her education, Theresa was united in marriage to James John Downey at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Trier. They enjoyed fishing, camping trips with their family, and hosting many family gatherings over the years. Theresa was a devout catholic who enjoyed making many rosaries in her free time, as well as reading and working on puzzles.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James; daughter, Mary Kay; infant daughter, Agnes; infant son, Gerald; siblings, Rita, Charles, Margaret and Sister Vincent; and by her brother-in-law, Jim Mistysyn.

Theresa is survived by her loving grandchildren, Mike (Danae) Lang, Jon Lang, and Christine (Matt) Mullner; son-in-law, Terry Lang; great grandchildren, Luke and Selina Lang, Mark Lang, and Morgan Mullner; siblings, Lawrence (Lois) Teuber, Vincent (Mary) Teuber, Herman (Joan) Teuber, Al (Donna) Teuber, Fran (Laura) Teuber, Vic (Mary Ann) Teuber, Mary (Larry) Lee, and Linda Mistysyn; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Hastings, with Father David Hennen officiating. Interment will be held at the parish cemetery.

Family and friends are cordially invited to a visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., and to a reception following the Mass, all at church on Tuesday.

In lieu of flowers, Theresa's family requests memorials be made to The American Cancer Society in her memory.

Arrangements are being completed by Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings.
