Sharon M. Reinardy Cook

Sharon Mary Reinardy Cook, age 79, of Prescott passed away peacefully on February 10, 2025.

Life wasn’t easy for Sharon. She was born handicapped due to cerebral palsy on July 1, 1945 to Francis “Frank” and Irene (King) Reinardy in Hastings.

As a young child, she wasn’t treated any different from her brothers. If they went camping they would load her up with all the gear. She was proud she learned to tie her shoes with one hand. As a teenager, she became a great baker and sold her baked goods. She married for a short time to Robert Cook. Sadly, it ended in divorce.

Sharon loved her Catholic faith and was a member of the church. She lived in St. Paul and Sharon had several recognitions for her outstanding commitment to volunteer service. She received a special service award from the state by the Governor Rudy Pupich. She was instrumental in making the walkways more handicapped accessible. One of the things she was most proud of was being a Powder Puff Clown. She loved making animal balloons for the children. She also enjoyed telling jokes and was always looking for a new one. Sharon had some lemons in her life, but she turned them into lemonade!

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Francis (Frank) and Irene King Reinardy; brothers, Donald and James; and by young sisters, Kathleen and Mary.

She is survived by her brother, Francis (Dawn); sisters-in-law, Simone Reinardy and Sue Moeller; nephews, Donald, Ronald, Robert, Tom, Shawn, Steve and Daniel Reinardy; and one loving niece, Renae Reinardy Spiry.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 21, 2025 at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel, 3075 Vermillion Street, Hastings with a visitation one hour prior to the time of the service. Interment will take place at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Cemetery, Hastings.
