Russell D. Moore

Russell D. Moore, age 84, of Hastings, passed away at United Hospital in St. Paul on May 9, 2023.

Russell was born in Canby, MN on July 28, 1938 to Louie and Helen (Groven) Moore. He had many occupations throughout the years. He started out doing Block and Tile work. Later, he managed Lake Street Car Wash, did some janitorial work, built a grain elevator, and he would also climb up windmills that needed to be fixed. He eventually settled down at Toro where he spent most of his working career and eventually retired.

He had many hobbies including talking and telling amazing stories. He was an avid woodworker who enjoyed the outdoors. He loved fishing, and would go hunting at his brother, Jerome’s with his sister, Darleen and her husband, Dale. Russell loved his Harley rides and pulling funny jokes on his kids and grandkids.

He would give the shirt off his back to anyone and had a very kind and gentle soul. Russell loved his puppies, Savannah and Lady and was very committed to his family. The most important people to him were his children, grandchildren, and especially his loving wife, Mary Ann.

Russell was preceded in death by his parents, Louie and Helen; siblings, Vernon, Darleen, and Daniel; and dear friend, Michael Bauer.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Ann Moore, children, Susan (Dale) Kimmes, Patti (Rick) Schwartz, and Diana (Nate) Lewandoski; grandchildren, Lexy (Josh) Jacobus, John (Tressa) Schwartz, Josh (Jenny) Lenhart, and Emma Bauer; great grandchildren, Bentley, Gracie, and Kaylee; siblings, Louis (Pauline), Jerome (Tony), Harold, Eugene, Gloria, Virginia, and Joyce ; "adopted" children, Kevin Keck, Lynn Keck and Rick Keck; many other relatives and friends.

A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, May 12, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Old Cottage Grove Cemetery, 10999 70th St. S. in Cottage Grove.
