Rocky

Ronald Duane "Rocky" Peterson, age 79, of Hastings, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family November 3, 2022 at United Hospital in St. Paul.

He was born on a farm July 29, 1943 to Randolph and Irene (Norderhaug) Peterson in Martell Township, Wisconsin. He attended Cloverdale School for 8 years and Ellsworth High School for 4 years, graduating with the Class of 1961. Rocky worked several different jobs and kicked around here and there until he met Kathie, and then never left Hastings. Together they raised 8 children. Rocky drove over the road for several years until his retirement in 2006.

Rocky is preceded in death by his wife, Kathie Peterson; sons, Mike and Ben Peterson; daughter, Connie Rieger; grandson, Lucas John Peterson; parents, Randolph and Irene Peterson; sisters, Sandy Peterson, Edie Gunderson, and Roberta Sylla; brother, Dave Peterson; and son in law, Mick Nestrud.

He is survived by his children, Peggy (Brian) Mills, John (Kathy) Peterson, Joe (Michelle) Peterson, Amy Chandler (Tony Blazek), and Duey (Heather) Peterson; brothers, Al, Paul, and Tim (Donna) Peterson; sisters, Jo (Gordon) Sando, Mary Heinz, Betty (Lee) Zappa, and Jane Evin; daughter in law, Pam (Bill) Nicoll; son in law, Jammer Rieger; sister in law, Jean Peterson; brother in law, Steve Sylla; several grandchildren and great grandchildren, 2 great great grandsons; and many other relatives and friends.

A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, November 7, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Our Saviour's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 400 W. 9th St. in Hastings. A visitation will be take place on Sunday, November 6, 2022 from 2:00 - 5:00 PM at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel, 3075 Vermillion St., Hastings, and 1 hour prior to the service at church on Monday. Interment, Lakeside Cemetery in Hastings.
