Robert L. Atwood

Robert L. Atwood, aged 85, of Hastings, passed away peacefully on Wednesday evening, March 27, 2024.

Born on August 23, 1938, in Perry, IA, to parents Leland and Lena (Kever) Atwood, Robert lived a life filled with love, service, and dedication. A distinguished veteran of the US Navy, Robert served his country with honor and bravery. His commitment to his duties and his country will always be remembered and cherished by those who knew him.

Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Leland and Lena; sister, Claudette Maerz; brother, Richard Atwood; and by his niece, Wendy.

He is survived by his loving wife, Ann; stepdaughter, Brenda Hodges; nieces, Linda Sarazin, Shari (Joe) Nagy, Rebecca DeBace; and by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and great nephews. Robert's memory will forever be treasured by his family and friends.

A committal service to honor Robert's life and service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 16th, 2024 at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, where he will be laid to rest with full military honors. Those wishing to attend, please arrive by 12:45 p.m. in Assembly Area #3.
