Robert Cooley Burwell,
Age 80 of Apple Valley, born July 3, 1943 in Mpls. and passed away peacefully on Sept. 23, 2023 from complications of Parkinson’s Disease. He was surrounded by family and loved ones who will forever cherish the memories of a life well lived. Rob met the love of his life, Lynn Knapp Burwell at Duluth East HS. They enjoyed laughter and unforgettable moments in their 57 years of marriage. He graduated with an art history degree from UMD. Professionally, he was a pilot, flight instructor and managed the Sky Harbor airport on Park Point in Duluth before moving to the Twin Cities to work for the FAA. He had a 30 yr. career as a controller and manager at the air traffic control center in Farmington, MN. Rob found joy in nature, mountains and downhill skiing, which he instilled in his family. He will be remembered for investing in the latest technology and his precise, trusted weather forecasts. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, who will miss his love for adventure, sense of humor and positive outlook on life. He is preceded in death by parents, Mary & William Burwell. Rob will be dearly missed by his loving wife, Lynn; daughters, Wendy (Todd) Clements and Annie (David) Burton; grandchildren: Kallie Clements, Megan Clements, Riley Burton and Reese Burton; and brother, Scott Burwell. Celebration of life, 11:00 AM, Saturday. Sept. 30 at Henry W. Anderson Mortuary, 14850 Garrett Ave., Apple Valley with visitation one hour before. No memorials or flowers preferred.
