Robert "Bud" Crandall, 93, of Grand Rapids formerly of Hastings, passed away peacefully with his children by his side on March 2, 2023.
He was born March 15, 1929 in Red Wing, MN to David and Lena (Michaelson) Crandall and attended school in Red Wing. Bud eventually moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa where he met the love of his life at the donut shop.
On June 8, 1948 he married Mary Hemphill, and together raised their 3 children.
They moved to Minnesota in 1950 and started Crandall Well Drilling in Hastings, and retired after 47 years of ownership. He was a proud 3rd generation well driller.
Bud enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, rollerskating and flying with his sons and granddaughter. He and Mary loved moose hunting in Canada. He was very proud of his 61 years of sobriety.
He is survived by his sons, Jack (Linda) Crandall, Tom (Marcia) Crandall, Don (Nancy) Crandall; grandchildren, Candace (Jeff) Schmitt, Kevin (Latasha) Crandall, Dana (Patrick) Lombardo, Michelle (Paul) Trottier, Brian (Robin) Crandall, Leah (Tim) Murphy; 16 great-grandchildren; companion, Joyce Hughes, with many nieces and nephews.
Bud was preceded in death, parents; spouse, Mary in 2009; great-grandchild, Ethan Schmitt, brother, Earl and sister, Pearl.
Funeral Service will be 2:00 pm Monday, March 13 at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel in Hastings, with visitation 2 hours prior. Interment will be at the Lakeside Cemetery in Hastings.
