Kuehn, Richard P. “Rick”
Pastor Rick Kuehn, age 81 of Burnsville, MN, went home peacefully on February 21, 2025. Preceded in death by his parents, Jack W. Sr. & Mary Penelope “Penny” (Paulson) Kuehn. Survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Jackie; sons, James “Jim” (Jan) and Stephen “Steve” (Lisa); grandchildren, Aaron, Evan, Ethan, Adam, Andrew, Alexander “Alex”, Zachary “Zach”, Hope, Luke, Jonathan, Elianna, Abigail, and Benjamin; brothers, Jack W. Jr. (Andrea) and Robert S. “Bob” (Kathy); many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Rick was born January 13th, 1944 and grew up in Edina, MN. He graduated from The Blake School and went on to earn his BS in Biology at Trinity College in Hartford, CT. He met his lovely bride on a blind date, and they were married after he completed Air Force Officer Training School. He served 4 years active duty during the Vietnam War, rising to the rank of Major and receiving the Air Force commendation medal. Upon discharge, he joined the family business, working alongside his dad and brothers, as a manufacturer’s representative for 22 years.
During this time, Rick received Christ at a Cursillo weekend and his life’s priorities shifted towards missions. Starting with six trips to Haiti (where he learned to preach), teaching Sunday School to Native American children in the Phillips neighborhood of Minneapolis, being called to Asia and completing his Master of Divinity at Bethel Seminary, Rick and Jackie answered the call, becoming missionaries in the Philippines for 13 years. While there, Rick accepted invitations to minister in Korea, Thailand, and Russia. Returning to the US to take care of their aging parents, Rick continued his ministry as a bible teacher, writer, and preacher in Arizona and Minnesota.
Loving son, husband of 59 years, father of 2, grandfather of 13, poet, author, businessman, missionary, delighter in all things “punny”, earnest seeker, curious pursuer of God and all His creation, he served his Lord faithfully. His impact will continue to be felt by many.
