Richard "Dick" W. Kirtz

Richard "Dick" W. Kirtz, age 81, of Hastings passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on April 6, 2023.

Dick proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy from 1960-1964. He spent two years of basic training at the San Diego Naval Base before being stationed in Japan for two years. After serving, he returned to Minnesota where he married Carole on November 7, 1964. They went on to have four children together, spending numerous weekends camping and exploring Minnesota. Dick spent most of his career as an Iron Worker before retiring in 1990. After retirement, Dick enjoyed woodworking and riding his motorcycle and bicycle.

He is preceded in death by his parents, William & Virginia Kirtz.

Dick is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Carole; children, Debbie (Pat) Dowell, Lisa Fritze, Dave (Sue) Kirtz, and Brian Kirtz; grandchildren, Michael & Nicole, Ryan & Kayla, and Austen; great-grandchildren, James & King; sister, Judy Getchell; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A celebration of Dick's life will be held Tuesday, April 11 at 11:00 AM at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel, Hastings with a visitation one hour prior. Private family interment at Lakeside Cemetery, Hastings. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the Melanoma Research Foundation, www.melanoma.org.
