Richard "Dick" P. Veldt

Richard "Dick" Veldt, age 87 of Hastings and formerly of New Hope and Waseca, died suddenly but peacefully at home on Tuesday morning, November 28, 2023.

Dick was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and worked for General Motors, Honeywell, FMC, and Alliant Tech Systems. He and his wife Rochelle raised their family in New Hope, MN. After retiring, he lived in Alaska where he worked for the pipeline and loved running a bed and breakfast with Rochelle. Dick enjoyed fishing, hunting, and was an avid reader. He was active in a leadership role at New Hope Church for many years. He loved traveling to the Middle East where he volunteered many hours with TEAM missions.

He has known Jesus as his Savior since his youth and experienced God’s faithfulness throughout his life.

He also loved being married to Rochelle for 62 years. They enjoyed spending time together, especially traveling.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rochelle; daughter, Susan; sister, Alice; and grandson-in-law, Mat.

Dick is survived by his children, Pam (Mark) Johnson, Daniel (Kim) Veldt, and Denise (Scott) McCall; son-in-law, Brett Easley; twenty-seven grandchildren; thirty-three great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 9 at 11:00 AM at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel with a visitation one hour prior. Burial will take place at Lakeside Cemetery, Hastings. Lunch will take place after the burial.
