Rev. Father John M. Siebenaler, age 88 of Hastings, died peacefully at Regina Senior Living on Sunday morning, July 9, 2023.
John Michael, the son of Mathias and Christine (Gores) Siebenaler, was born at home in Vermillion Township, Dakota County, Minnesota on March 13, 1935. Following his graduation from Nazareth High School in 1952, John attended Nazareth Hall Minor Seminary, and later entered The St. Paul Seminary. Following his Ordination in 1961, Father John served as an Associate Pastor at Christ The King, St. Charles Borromeo, St. Olaf, Corpus Christi, and St. Augustine Parishes. In 1974, Father John became the Pastor of St. Thomas Catholic Church in St. Thomas, St. Nicholas Catholic Church in New Market, and St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Dayton, and retired in 1997. Even into his retirement, Father John enjoyed assisting at Church of St. Joseph in Miesville, St. Pius V Catholic Church in Cannon Falls, and anywhere else he could help. In 2000, Father John built his townhome in Hastings and later moved to Regina Senior Living when his health began to fail. He enjoyed playing hockey in the seminary, golfing, playing tennis, traveling with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mathias and Christine; sister, Mary Kay Hoffman; brother, Rev. Father Leonard F. Siebenaler; and by his brothers-in-law, Jim Neisen and Norbert Hoffman.
Father John is survived by his siblings, Rev. Father Martin Siebenaler, Therese Siebenaler, Donna Neisen, Edward (Theresa) Siebenaler, Raymond (Karen) Siebenaler, and Bernard M. (Joanie) Siebenaler; and by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 15, 2023, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Hastings, with the Most Reverend Bernard A. Hebda officiating. Interment will be held at the parish cemetery. Interment will be held at the parish cemetery.
Family and friends are cordially invited to a visitation from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Saturday morning at church. A reception will also be held at church immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. John Vianney Seminary in memory of Father John.
