Rebecca A. Wallace

Rebecca A. Wallace, age 18, of Hastings, passed away March 11, 2023.

Rebecca came to our family through adoption when she was two months old. Jason Dobosenski, my first cousin, and Heidi Swalve bravely entrusted Rebecca's care to us. Todd and I were honored and believed God chose us to raise Rebecca. Our children joyfully welcomed a new sibling.

Her chromosome abnormality was so rare that doctors could not give us much guidance on what we could expect regarding her development or life expectancy. We had no choice but to learn to take one day at a time, trusting that God would give us the strength and wisdom to care for her needs.

We could not have taken care of Rebecca without the amazing support of her healthcare providers, the school staff, and home care workers. These people became our community of support in addition to our loving children and extended family members.

We will be forever grateful for the impact Rebecca made on our lives. And the wonderful stories that we share to remember her.

Preceded in death by grandmother, Carole Dobosenski; grandfather, James Wallace; and Jason Dobosenski

Survived by parents, Todd and Carmon Wallace; siblings, David Wallace, Leah Wallace (Tyler Hedrix), Mariah (Jacob) Spitzack, Michelle Wallace, and Nicole Wallace; niece, Scarlett Hedrix; grandparents, Linda Wallace, and Peter Dobosenski; aunt, Susan (Steve) Erickson, uncle, Noah Wallace, aunt, Leigh Ann (Eric) Steeber, godparents, Timothy and Jil Spitzack; and Heidi Swalve; also many other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 16, 2023 at 5:00 PM at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel, 3075 Vermillion St. in Hastings. A visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
