Pheth Vichaiyarath (Singthin) was born on September 10, 1950, in Nong Khai, Thailand. She was the eldest daughter of eight children, born to the union of Pian Singthin and Nang Krai Singthin.
Pheth's life was marked by her kind, caring, and nurturing soul. From a young age, she took her siblings under her wing and worked as a dessert vendor to provide for her family. She was known for her strength, selflessness, and capacity to care for others.
Pheth was married for 46 years, from the age of 19 until her husband's death in 2015. She met her husband through an arranged marriage, and together, they had five children. The family immigrated from Thailand to the United States in 1980 and settled in the Twin Cities, Minnesota.
During her lifetime, Pheth’s favorite hobby was cooking. She made sure to show her love by feeding others, even when resources were scarce. Alongside her positive and lively spirit, her incredible talent for making delicious food is a legacy that will be truly missed. She passed down her love for food and cooking to her daughter, sons, and daughters-in-law, who will continue to carry that legacy for her.
Additionally, Pheth loved fishing, nature, and spending time with family. She loved nothing more than seeing her family flourish. She helped raise her grandchildren and was able to see her great-grandchildren before her passing. Her other favorite pastimes included going to church, watching Thai dramas, shopping, getting her nails done, and going for walks.
Pheth passed away peacefully on April 24th, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones. She will be sorely missed by her family and friends.
