Peter P. Meier

Peter P. Meier, age 90, of Hastings, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at United Hospital in St. Paul.

Born on April 23, 1934, in Vermillion Township, MN, Peter was the son of Mathias and Rose Meier. He married the love of his life, Grace Batzel, on August 5, 1978, in Hastings, and together they built a life filled with love and family.

A man of the outdoors, Peter found great joy in fishing, hunting, and gardening. He also tended a small apple orchard, taking pride in the fruits of his labor and sharing them with those he loved.

Peter was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Grace; his parents, Rose and Mathias; siblings, Rita, Hildegard, Donald, Bernice, Othmar, Gordon, and Martha; and grandchildren, Brian and Sean Morrison.

He is survived by his stepchildren, Jane Newman (Kerry), Susan Carter (Timothy), James Morrison (Patricia), and Paula Morrison; grandchildren, Brandon Carter, Mercedes Jones, Alexander Morrison, Sarah Duerscherl (John), Heather Boldt (KC), and Krag Morrison; and great-grandchildren, Evelyn Duerscherl, Nora Duerscherl, and Theodore Boldt. He is also survived by his siblings, Florence Pirrung (Bob), Dorothy Smith (Rod), Harold Meier (Sheryl), and Jeannie Harrington (Mitch), along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 15th St. W. in Hastings.

Visitation will take place on Friday, February 21, 2025, from 5 PM to 8 PM at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel, 3075 Vermillion St. in Hastings, and from 10 AM to 11 AM on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at the church prior to Mass.

Interment will be at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Cemetery in Hastings.
