Paul W. Kranz passed away on June 6, 2024 in Woodbury, MN.
Paul was born near Watertown, SD and was a graduate of Watertown High School and Augustana University in Sioux Falls, SD. He worked for 15 years as an Insurance Underwriter, and then 14 years as a Risk Manager for American Hoist in Saint Paul, MN. During those years, he also was an advisor for the Catholic Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis. He was instrumental in the development of an insurance program (National Catholic Risk Retention Group). He continued in this insurance advisory position with the Archdiocese for 34 years, well into retirement.
After his retirement from American Hoist, Paul purchased, remodeled, and maintained four rental properties in the Saint Paul area.
Paul and his wife, Marlene, spent 25 years at their winter home in Texas. He enjoyed playing golf, dancing, and participating in many activities and celebrations at the resort park.
Paul is survived by his children, David Kranz of Hudson, WI, Diane (Kranz) Zahorik of Kelso, WA, Theresa Kranz of Saint Paul, MN; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; brother, Jerry Kranz of Spokane, WA; and his sister, Mary (Kranz) Byer of Pierre, SD.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Mary Marlene (Mundt) Kranz; son, Daniel J. Kranz; parents, Nicholas F. and Frances M. (Mackey) Kranz; two sisters; and seven brothers.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 15, 2024 at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel, 3075 Vermillion Street, Hastings with visitation one hour prior to the time of the service. Interment at a later date at St. Odilia Prayer Garden, Shoreview.
