Patricia Gahnz

Patricia A. Gahnz, 79, of Hastings passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family on June 23, 2022 from cancer. Patricia was born Feb 5, 1943 in Winona, Minnesota to Luke and Etta (Volkmann) Rowan. She graduated from Cotter High School in Winona and attended Winona State and received her Nursing degree. In 1967 Pat married her soulmate, Bob Gahnz. Together they raised their three children. Pat was a stay-at-home mom involved with their friends, school activities and their sports. She decided later in life to become a Flight Attendant with Northwest Orient and cherished the opportunity to see the world as well as share these experiences with her family. Pat was fearless in her travels and never missed an opportunity for adventure! During these travels, Pat discovered a love for beautiful pearls and enjoyed sharing them with friends, family and throwing pearl parties. Pat was very active in the Hastings community. She was an avid golfer and enjoyed her Women’s Golf League. She was a talented card and Bridge player and made life-long friends with her Bridge Ladies. She loved gardening and flowers, throwing parties, her convertibles, reading, doing random acts of kindness, good food and good laughs, and mostly spending time with Bob and her family. Bob and “Paprika” loved to hop in the convertible and enjoyed touring the countryside, whether locally or “across the pond”. She loved being "Grandma Mimi" and spending time with her grandchildren She had a strong faith in God and was dedicated to her prayers. Patricia lived her life to the fullest and her magnetic energy will be dearly missed. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Bob; children, Cory (Kristine) Gahnz and their children, Tate, Alexa, Noelle; Rindy (Mike) Gahnz - Utz and their children, Journey and JackGrant; Chad (Nicole) Gahnz and their children Odin and Henry; siblings, Richard (Yvonne) Rowan, LuEtta Swisher, Michael (Bert) Rowan and other dear friends and relatives. Patricia was preceded in death by her parents; infant brother, Thomas Luke Rowan, and brother-in-law, Charlie Swisher. In honor of Patricia’s legacy, donations are to be directed to Hastings Family Service or your charity of choice. Please enjoy wearing bright colors to her service, and girls, wear your pearls. A visitation will be Tuesday, June 28 from 9:00 am - 11:00 am at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Hastings, with Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am. Interment will be in the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by the Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel.
