Pat

Pat Smida, 87, of Hastings, formerly of Crystal, MN, danced into her heavenly home on July, 21 2022 at Augustana Health in Hastings. Pat was born January 14, 1935 to Ralph and Dorothy (Chapman) Langan in Chicago, IL. The family moved to Minneapolis where Pat graduated from North High School in 1953. On July 4, 1953 she married George Smida and together raised their 3 children. Pat worked at Airmo for a bit, and volunteered countless hours throughout her life. She was a talented seamstress for homemade clothes and custom vestments for the Catholic Church, especially Crosier Seminary. She loved bowling, gardening, and traveling the world. She and George were lifelong dancers with the Town Trotters, and danced seamlessly well after their 50th wedding anniversary! Pat was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandma and great grandma. Her strength and confident personality made her who she was and her love and dedication to her family will be greatly missed. Pat is survived by her three children, Chuck (Mary Lee Bertram) Smida, Richard Smida and Lynn (Steve) Otto; grandchildren, Amy Jo (Jason) Westrum, Andrea (Colin) Thomas, April Gadea, Alissa (Jim) Stoffel, Kathryn (Guy) Duvernay, Karisa Wik, Kyle (Ann) Smida, Nate (Jenna) Otto, Vanessa (Josh) Horsch, Andy (Katie) Otto; 22 great-grandchildren; siblings, Conrad Langan, Sandy (Mark) Anderson, Becky (Mike) Chlopek, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, George in 2017. Visitation will be 11:00am - 1:00pm Wednesday, August 3 at the Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel in Hastings, with the Memorial Service beginning at 1:00 pm. Interment will be in the Fort Snelling National Cemetery. The family would like to give a special thank you to the Augustana nursing staff, Maren and her loving team from Grace Hospice.
