Maureen L. Fasbender

Maureen L. Fasbender (nee Karpen) died June 19, 2023 at Regina Nursing Home in Hastings at the age of 99.

Maureen was born the second of 6 children to John P. and Agnes Karpen of Hastings. She was raised in Hastings and graduated from Hastings High School in 1941. She graduated Nursing School at St. Scholastica College in Duluth, MN in 1946.

She was hired as a Nurse Superintendent at St. Raphael's Hospital in Hastings in 1948 where she met her future husband, Dr. Herman T. Fasbender. They married in August 1950 and raised 10 children together.

Maureen was preceded in death by her husband, Herman; brothers, John P. Karpen, George Karpen, and Richard Karpen; and sisters, Mary Agnes Crist, and Joanne Grabowski.

She is survived by her children, Mary Paula (Dennis) Deane, John (Therese) Fasbender, Cheryl (Nick) Conzemius, James (Clarisse) Fasbender, Victoria (Shawn) Coonrod, Lisa (Matt) Haviland, Herman (Andrea) Fasbender, Kathryn (Peter) Bos, Peter (Kim) Fasbender, and Julie Lacroix (Jesse Krook); 28 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren with more coming; and many other relatives and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at 11:00 AM at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 15th St. W. in Hastings. Burial will follow mass at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Cemetery in Hastings.

The family invites all to attend a funeral luncheon at the Conzemius barn, 124 Farm Street, Hastings, MN 55033.
