While teaching in Red Wing, Mary Lou met the love of her life, Dave – who tried to sell her life insurance. Mary Lou loved his children – Mike and Debbie. They soon decided to marry on June 23rd, 1963. They were wed at Immanuel Lutheran in Clara City and moved to their first home as a family in Hastings. She was a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran since 1963. She taught Sunday school, enjoyed her church circle friends, and bible study. Mary Lou enjoyed playing her trumpet on special occasions such as birthdays and the annual 4th of July Parades until her late 70’s.

In 1965, they moved to their new home on Louis Lane where they resided and raised their children along with many family pets. In 1996, they purchased a town home in Hastings. In 1967, they purchased a lake home on Deer Lake in Spooner, WI. Over the years they enjoyed memories of times with family and friends who were always welcomed. They enjoyed skating, ice fishing, cross country skiing, and cocktail rides on the pontoon boat at 5:00 with friends, teaching the kids and grand kids how to water ski, the list goes on and on. Mary Lou enjoyed playing bridge with friends and good jokes.
