Age 77 of Rosemount, went to be with Jesus on January 5, 2024, surrounded by her children. Preceded in death by her amazing husband, James; parents, Art & Alyce Elfstrand; and sister, Lauren Olson. Survived by her children, Jamie (Dan) West and Samuel Wavinak; special grandson, Darren Gillis; brother, Mark (Rhonda) Elfstrand; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Mary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, prayer warrior, and woman of unwavering faith. She grew up in Minnesota and Washington. Mary graduated from Richfield High School and during her junior year she was voted Actress of the Year – something she was always very proud of. Mary was a highly motivated banker and she worked her way from a bank teller to Senior Vice President of Commercial Lending, first at Norwest Bank and most recently at Wells Fargo Bank. While working a full-time job she managed to be an excellent, devoted wife and mom. After she retired from the bank, Mary started a business in 1997 selling antiques and collectibles on eBay.

She had a very strong faith and loved reading God’s word and studying Bible verses. Mary had a drive and mission to bring others to Jesus. At the time of her passing she was enrolled in the Colson Fellows Program, to learn how to further impact the world in a biblical, positive way. Mary was always helping others, lending a hand, and volunteering.

Mary took so much joy in being a grandma. She loved spending time and taking road trips with her family and loved ones. Mary enjoyed trying out new restaurants, shopping, the theater and arts, music, plants, and she had a passion for cooking. She loved animals, especially rabbits and dogs. During the 90’s she liked lifting weights and working out at Lifetime fitness and would brag that she could put up 400lbs on the leg press and bench press 125lbs. Mary was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan; she enjoyed participating in her son’s fantasy football leagues. She will be dearly missed by her children, grandson, family, friends, and loved ones.

A Funeral will be held at 11am on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at Henry W. Anderson Mortuary, 14850 Garrett Ave., Apple Valley, with visitation one hour prior. Interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to the family.
