Marlys A. Millner

Marlys A. Millner, age 77 of Hastings, died suddenly but peacefully at home on Saturday afternoon, July 20, 2024.

Marlys Ann Millner was born May 19, 1947, in Brooks, MN, to Ernest and Noella (Derosier) Delorme. She was raised in Thief River Falls, MN, graduating from Thief River Falls Lincoln High School in 1965. Marlys went on to have a variety of jobs, the one she often told stories about was working at the telephone company where she manually connected calls on the large switchboard and enjoyed chatting with new people. Her favorite “job” however was being a homemaker and raising her three children, Steve, Scott and Staci. Family was top of the list for Marlys. She enjoyed being home after school for the kids. Her chocolate chip cookies were always a hit and a big bowl of ice cream at bedtime was a good way to end the day.

Outside of her home, Marlys was always up for an adventure, she loved to sail the seas with her good friend Joyce on several cruise lines. Palm trees, travel and seeing new sights was always on the bucket list. She loved to dress up and hit the dance floor. Mancini’s was a favorite place to dance. However, she also loved her downtime and read (and re-read) so many books. Her favorite author, Danielle Steele, fills her bookshelf. Marlys took every opportunity to call family and friends, she was a talker and enjoyed time with people and family.

As her family grew, she continued to support and encourage her children to grow in every way. She was thrilled to welcome nine grandchildren. Marlys enjoyed attending dance recitals, football, soccer, swimming, tennis, music concerts, award ceremonies and graduations for her grandchildren both near and far. Family was her heart.

Marlys is survived by her three children, Steven (Rene) Millner of Crosslake, MN, Scott (Melissa) Millner of Hastings, MN, and Staci (Ben) Scott of Sammamish, WA; the father of her children, Lawrence Millner; nine grandchildren, Hailey, Blake, Joseph, Kaitlyn, Daniel, Hannah, Jackson, Lilliana, and Sophia; siblings, Roy (Evelyn) Delorme of Venice, FL, Richard (Cindy) Delorme of St. Cloud, MN and Mike Delorme of Fridley, MN; along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Ron Delorme and Russell Delorme; and by her sisters, Margaret Mattson and Sue Krause.

A Celebration of Marlys' Life will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 27, 2024, at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings, with Paris Pasch officiating.

Family and friends are cordially invited to a visitation for one hour prior to the service, and to a reception immediately following the service, all at the funeral home on Saturday.

In lieu of flowers the family encourages you to direct any donations to St. Jude’s Hospital, a charity meaningful to Marlys that she supported.
