Lynn B. Lucas

July 2, 1955 — November 4, 2023

Lynn B. Lucas (Bisson), age 68, of Hastings passed away after a 3.5 year struggle with pancreatic cancer on November 4, 2023. We remember Lynn as a strong, resilient, and independent woman who survived the death of her son, lived with cancer, and celebrated life with grace, dignity, and style.

Although grim, Lynn acknowledged her plight, comforting those by saying "I wake up with joy, and pray for healing every day."

She fought the good fight even though it got hard. When it got tough, she prevailed. It got scary, but she didn't fear. It would get worrisome, but she always had hope. When it got to the end, Lynn said, "I'm not giving up." Lynn truly fought until her final breaths. Lynn was alive and at her best when working in her flower gardens. It was said that Lynn's flower gardens were something out of a Better Homes and Gardens magazine. She was an adventure seeker, a rock hound enthusiast, and enjoyed spending time outdoors. Lynn loved going on many road trips over the years with Jeff, family, and friends. Her favorite destinations include outsider art installations, quirky places of interest, and anywhere that had a flat penny machine. Lynn especially loved the U.P. of Michigan, and was considered an honorary "Yooper" by her friends and acquaintances there. Lake Superior was her solace in all four seasons; hiking on the ice, kayaking the waters, rock hounding the shores, and driving shoreline roads. A most memorable occasion, was hosting a 50th anniversary dinner on the shore complete with table linens, fine china, and silver candelabras. Along with her mom, Lynn was considered the leader of the family organizing family vacations, weekend getaways, and hosting Easter gatherings. From he moment she found out, Lynn was ecstatic to become a grandmother. From the beginning of the gender reveal at Little Girl's Point, to decorating the nursery, shopping for necessities, and learning how to be a grandma, she was all in. She enjoyed spending time with Baby Eleanor going on walks, showing her flowers, reading books, and making up her own songs. Lynn was overjoyed to be the first to see Eleanor crawl shortly before her passing. Lynn's message to the world is, "live your life with meaning, value, and purpose. Every day do something creative, something fun, and something productive." Psalm 118:24.

She is preceded in death by her father, Martin Bisson; son, Mitchell Lucas; brother, Terry Bisson.

Lynn is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, Jeff; daughter, Mackenzie Lucas-Kennedy (Tom); mother, Mary Bisson; granddaughter, Eleanor Rae; siblings, Sharon Bisson, Craig Bisson, and Beth Groves; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
