Kevin J. Hoeschen

Kevin Hoeschen, age 67, of Hastings, passed away November 27, 2022.

He had many interests including gardening, and he belonged to the Hastings Garden Club. Kevin grew roses for a time, even entering some in the Rivertown Days flower competition. He turned his yard into a spectacular flower garden and also loved to decorate his yard for the different seasons. Kevin loved Halloween and Christmas and spent many days putting out elaborate Halloween and Christmas decor.

Kevin was his local union’s president for many years. He was on many different committee boards for various organizations including the United Way, his Credit Union’s Supervisory Committee and many others throughout the years.

Kevin loved his community which was evident when you look at all his accomplishments. He was the Historic Saturday Evening Cruise-ins founder and coordinator. He was the Downtown Business Association’s President for many years. He was the shoe cobbler in his shoe store The Towncobbler and fixed many of the community’s shoes, boots, handbags, belts etc. The Towncobbler grew to include retail sales of Red Wing, Born, New Balance and more. He was co-founder and co-owner of the recently opened RiverCity PopCorn & Candy Company.

He loved going to the lake for fishing and hunting. Kevin loved going ice fishing with his son in law and grandson. He loved everything about the outdoors and especially going to the cabin up north in the woods. The cabin was his Happy Place.

Kevin was preceded in death by his father, Jerome B. Hoeschen.

He is survived by his wife, Lynn; children, Chad Hoeschen, and Terri-Jo (Robert III) Wargo; grandchildren, Abigail, Robert IV, Breyanna, and Zyler; mother, Jenny Hoeschen; siblings, Mike (Joan) Hoeschen, Jim (Michele) Hoeschen, Janet (Dan) King, and Richard (Kathy) Hoeschen; and many other relatives and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at 10:30 AM at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 W. 15th St., Hastings. A visitation will be held on Monday, December 5, 2022 from 4:00 - 7:00 PM at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel, 3075 Vermillion St. in Hastings, and 1 hour prior to mass on Tuesday at church.
