Kenneth L. Harris

Kenneth Laverne Harris, 81, of Hastings, MN passed away peacefully on August 3, 2023.

Kenneth, son of Glen Roscoe Harris and Ada Marie Harris, was born on June 6th, 1942, in Hastings, MN. Ken attended public schools in Hastings and due to his lifelong devotion to Jesus, pursued an undergrad degree at Prairie Bible Institute.. He dedicated his time as a member and volunteer at First Baptist Church, which transitioned into River of Life Church.

Ken married Alice Marie Holmes in April of 1990 and they had two children. He was employed over 40 years at ConAgra Mill as a flour packer and later as a janitor. He also dedicated his time at Open Air Ministries in Minneapolis, MN and Sweet Spot in downtown Hastings, Ken enjoyed reading, singing, spending time with loved ones, and his special memories included singing while his mother played the piano at the Borner Farm, swimming and fishing at Battle Lake, and attending family camps at Camp Lebanon. Despite enduring many health challenges, he continuously served others, offered safety, comfort and humor.

His parents, step-mother Mary Elizabeth Mills, and sisters Joan Truax and Carol Cuyler predeceased him.

His life will be cherished by his wife, Alice; children, Richard Glen Harris and Hannah Rose Harris; siblings Steve (Mary) Harris, Charlene (Dave) LaFrance, Donna (Lance) Huebscher; and many extended family and friends. The family is thankful to Regina/Benedictine hospice care in Hastings, where Ken spent his final months.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 12, 2023, at River of Life Church in Hastings. Interment will follow at Lakeside Cemetery in Hastings.

Family and friends are cordially invited to a visitation one hour prior to the service, and to a reception immediately following the service, all at church on Saturday.

Due to a family allergy, Ken's family requests memorials in lieu of flowers.
