Kellie J. King

Kellie J. King, age 59 of Hastings, died suddenly but peacefully at home on Thursday evening, April 11, 2024.

Kellie Joan, the daughter of Melvin and Elizabeth (Lucking) King, was born on December 6, 1964, in Hastings, Minnesota. Following her graduation from Hastings High School with the class of 1983, Kellie continued her education in both Cosmetology and Paralegal Law. She was a longtime stylist at Let There Be Hair and Great Clips, both in Hastings. She was married with Scott Wood and they were blessed with a daughter, Jessica. Kellie later married Jeff Hernlem and they were blessed with two daughters, Allison and Vanessa. Kellie loved spending time with family, and simply cherished the chance to be a mom to her three girls and grandma to her little granddaughter, Rylie. Outside of being with family, Kellie loved spending time at the pool, and putting her green thumb to use around the yard. She also loved her little dog Tabitha whom she spoiled to the point that Tabitha only wanted to be around Kellie.

She was preceded in death by her parents; baby sister, Laurislee; and by her brothers-in-law, Dave Kendall and Rick Cobian.

Kellie is survived by her daughters, Jessie Wood, Allison Hernlem (fiancé, Aryan Michel), and Vanessa Hernlem; granddaughter, Rylie with another due soon; siblings, Roxanne (Al) Lewerer, Vicki (Larry) Cavalier, Jaci Cobian, James King, and Michael (Char) King; and by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

In keeping with Kellie's wishes, a private family celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
