Julie Ann Schultz

Julie A. Schultz, age 53, of Hastings, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis. Julie was born on September 23, 1971, in St. Paul, Minnesota, the youngest of three children to Lawrence and Eileen (Schouveller) Schmitz.

Julie attended Mounds View High School, where she participated in volleyball, proudly served as the Mustang mascot, and shared her musical talents playing clarinet in the pep band. Her passion for volleyball continued well into her adult years. Following high school, Julie attended Winona State University, where she not only graduated with a degree but also met the love of her life, Ken Schultz. The two were united in marriage in 1994 and built a beautiful life together. Julie was affectionately known as Ken's conversation holder, effortlessly keeping conversations lively and meaningful.

Above all else, Julie treasured being a mom to her two daughters, Morgan and Hannah. She was a steadfast presence at their activities, always volunteering and providing unwavering support. The family cherished their trips to Cozy Bay, where they enjoyed camping and creating treasured memories. Julie had a passion for life and found joy in simple pleasures such as reading, watching sports, action movies, and Hallmark films.

Julie was known for her kindness, selflessness, contagious laugh, and her remarkable ability to genuinely connect with everyone around her. She was a pillar of strength and support, consistently putting the needs of others ahead of her own.

Julie is survived by her devoted husband of nearly 31 years, Ken Schultz; daughters, Morgan (Noah) Zak and Hannah Schultz; siblings, Kathy (Tim) Shusta and Tim Schmitz; as well as nieces, nephews, numerous relatives, and a wide circle of friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Eileen Schmitz.

A visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel, 3075 Vermillion Street, Hastings, MN 55033. An additional visitation and reception with pastries, donuts, and fellowship will take place from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Friday, March 28, 2025, prior to Julie’s Celebration of Life service at 12:00 PM at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 400 W 9th St, Hastings, MN 55033. Burial will follow at Lakeside Cemetery in Hastings, MN.
