Joyce E. Merritt

Joyce E. Merritt age 73 of Hastings, a loving mom, sister, grandma, great-grandma passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on July 6, 2022. Preceded in death by her husband Jeff of 45 years; parents, Anton & Eva Bauer; siblings, John (Maryls), Rudy (Mary), Barb, Gloria, and Diane; great-grandchildren, Penelope, Samuel, and Hope; brother-in-law, Eugene; and son-in-law, Daniel. Joyce is survived by her loving children, Toni Anderson, Lynette (Ross) Berglund, CJ (Missy), and Bob (Sarah); siblings, Ray (Joanie) Bauer, Theresa (Ken) Kossan, Anna Gydesen, Joanne Reinardy, Marvin Bauer, and Ronnie (Sue) Bauer; grandchildren, Ashley, Erika, Lacey, Jeff, Brandon, Taylor, Blake, and Brody; and great-grandchild, Brian. Joyce enjoyed cooking and baking all sorts of goodies for her family. She made sure that you never left her house without hugs and treats. She loved playing a variety of card games, bingo, and casino games on her iPad. Above all, she cared most about her family. She enjoyed making salsa and canning sauerkraut with her siblings. She will be deeply missed. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2022 at 12:00 PM at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel, 3075 Vermillion St. in Hastings. A visitation will be held two hours prior to the service at the funeral home. Reception to follow.
