Joseph Michael Gahler

Joseph M. Gahler, age 57, of Hastings, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2024, at his residence. He was born on June 20, 1966, in Hastings to his loving parents, Mike and Sheila (Maher) Gahler.

Joe’s early years were spent in Idaho, but when he was 10 years old, his family returned to Hastings. It was during this time that he earned the endearing nickname "Idaho Joe" from his friends. Joe had an adventurous spirit and a deep love for the outdoors. He found solace in activities such as hunting, fishing, trapping, and riding ATVs, immersing himself in the beauty of nature. Joe’s strong work ethic defined him, and his dedication and hard work allowed him to excel in various trades.

Above all, Joe cherished the time he spent with his loved ones. His family and friends were very important in his life, and he valued each moment shared with them. Joe’s warm smile and jovial nature will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Joe was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jim and Henrietta Gahler, and Thomas and Monica Maher, as well as his brother, John Gahler.

He is survived by his parents; his beloved daughter, Jordan Gahler; his cherished son, Nathan Gahler; and his adoring grandchildren, Kane and Braxton Coulter; his loving brother, Dan (Adria) Gahler; his caring sister, Teresa (Leo) Julkowski; his nieces, Ava Gahler, Natalie Gahler, and Grace Julkowski; his nephew, Andrew Julkowski; and many other loving relatives and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Joe’s life will be held on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, 2035 W 15th St, Hastings, MN, at 11:00 AM, with a visitation one hour prior. The burial will take place at a later date.

Arrangements are being completed by Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings.
