Joleena D. Dyrssen, age 56, of Rosemount, passed away unexpectedly on November 20, 2024.
Joleena Dawn Mercil was born on May 5, 1968 in Westminster, California to Kenneth and Alice (Cole) Mercil. She moved with her family to Minnesota at a young age. In 1995, Jo married Richard and were blessed with 29 years of marriage.
She was known for creating beautiful memories by endlessly taking photos of her family and the world around her. She kept so much of her children’s crafts and sometimes turned them into art for the home. Jo made her family handmade Christmas ornaments each year and as another member joined the family, they also were gifted annually by her ornaments. As a grandmother, she prioritized education in play. Jo loved to collect rocks, go boating on the river and take photos.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Alice Mercil; and grandsons, Liam McNaughton and Beau Dyrssen.
Jo is survived by her husband, Rich Dyrssen; father, Ken Mercil; children, Sarah (Vlad) Borissov, Becca Mercil, Cori (Blake) Mickolichek, Charlene Dyrssen; grandchildren, Runic, Josh, Ayson, Declan, Silas, Loretta; many brothers and sisters; and by many other family members and friends.
A Celebration of Life for Jo will be held from 1:00 -3:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 8, 2024 at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel, Hastings with a Time of Sharing to begin at 1:30 p.m. Family and friends will be encouraged to share memories of Jo during this time. Guests are welcome to bring an ornament and exchange them in honor of Joleena's love for Christmas.
