John J. Endres, age 87 of Hastings, died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Saturday afternoon, April 27, 2024.
John Joseph, the son of Paul and Marie (Becker) Endres, was born on August 6, 1936, in Hastings. As a young child, John grew up and attended grade school in Hampton. He enlisted in the United States Army and was later granted an Honorable Discharge with The Good Conduct Medal. On June 20, 1959, John was united in marriage to Elizabeth A. Weddel and they were blessed with two children, Anthony and Heidi, prior to her sudden passing on July 11, 1966. John later met Marian Reinardy and they were united in marriage on August 5, 1967, at St. Mathias Catholic Church in Hampton. They added two more children, Lynette and Amanda to their family, and were blessed with over fifty-six years of marriage and many wonderful memories with family and friends. John worked at Koch Refinery and then was a long time Operator at the Metropolitan Waste Control Plant in Hastings.
Throughout his life, John enjoyed playing sports, especially baseball. He also enjoyed a good round of golf and bowling. There was nothing more important than spending time with family and friends at their lake home on Long Lake in Centuria, Wisconsin. Anyone that's been there knows it truly was their place to enjoy and entertain. John was a tricky euchre player to be up against, a talented grill master, and a friend to many, especially to his coffee buddies that met daily at The Bierstube. John and Marian cherished the time spent wintering close to family and friends in the Mesa, Arizona area too.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Elizabeth; siblings, Odelia (Joseph) Schiller, Wilfred (Lorraine) Endres, Sylvester Endres, Dorothy (Martin) Schiller, Eugene (Anita) Endres, Father Gilbert Endres, Bernard Endres, and Robert (Diane) Endres; brother-in-law, Anthony Kasel; sister-in-law, Sharon Endres; and by his son-in-law, Brandon Walls.
John is survived by his wife, Marian; children, Tony Endres, Heidi Minea (Joel Kennedy), Lynn (Mike) Muench, and Mandy Vickney; grandchildren, Kennedy (Steve Gilpin) Minea, Gage Muench, Connor Muench, Claire Minea, Johnny Vickney, and Michael Vickney; siblings, Donald (Joanne) Endres, Paul Endres, David (Sarah) Endres, and Mary Jean Kasel; sister-in-law, Karleen Schlapkohl; the extended Reinardy Family; and by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
