John "Brother Bernie" H. Taube

John Henry Taube, “Brother Bernie”, age 91 passed away peacefully on June 26, 2024 in Farmington, MN.

John was born on August 8, 1932, to Henry and Gertrude (Tutewohl) Taube on a farmstead in Cannon Falls, MN. His love for farming continued from his younger years, as he joined the order of the Sacred Heart of Jesus after 8th grade with the plan to manage the farming portion of the Ministry. On March 19, 1950, he professed and from then on was known as Brother Bernard Taube, SCJ. At the age of 58, he graduated from Cardinal Stritch College in Milwaukee with a bachelor’s degree in sociology. Following graduation, he worked for several years with Milwaukee’s SET Ministries and then in Madison for several years. Upon his retirement, Bernie made his way back home to be near family.

Brother Bernie was survived by many nieces and nephews; great nieces and great nephews; and by his fellow Brothers of the Priests of the Sacred Heart.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Gertrude Taube; siblings, Sister Brenelle Taube, Agnes (Tom) Knipe, Mary (John) Beissel; and by his infant brother, Patrick Taube.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 19, 2024 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, New Trier with visitation one hour prior to the time of the Mass. Interment will take place at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, New Trier.
