John Damsgard, 72, of Hastings, MN, passed away on Thursday, June 8th.
John was born in St. Paul, MN on March 12th, 1951 to Lorraine and Ralph Damsgard. He graduated from Hastings High School. John was married to Dawn Bien for many years with whom he shares two lovely daughters. John worked at the Hastings Co-op Creamery for 48 years until he retired in 2016.
Throughout his life John enjoyed playing football, baseball, softball, and bowling; coaching his daughters softball teams; and watching any other sporting event he could find. In his free time, he was also an avid fisherman, hunter and card player. John was known as a kind & funny guy who would give you the shirt off his back.
John is survived by his wife Dawn, daughters Sasha (Brian) Meyer and Tori (Brian) Johnston, grandsons Rhett & Wesley Meyer, sisters Lisa (Butch) Chapin, Patti (Dave) McNurlin, Mary (Jim) Paddock, sister-in-law Roxy Damsgard and many nieces & nephews.
He is proceeded in death by his parents Ralph and Lorraine Damsgard, brother Kenny Damsgard, sisters Nancy Monroe and Karen Damsgard.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, July 30th from 1pm-4pm at the American Legion in Hastings, MN, where he was a member. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Nasseff Heart Center (via the United Hospital Fund).
