Johanna L. Carlson-Ingebrigtsen

September 16, 1979 — June 5, 2024

Johanna “Jo” Lynn Carlson-Ingebrigtsen, age 44, of Hastings, MN, was born on September 16, 1979 and passed away on June 5, 2024. In 2020, Jo was diagnosed with ALK lung cancer, a gene mutation. She had 3-1/2 good years and lived life to its fullest that whole time. While we knew there was no cure for this type of cancer, she never complained, and while we were hoping for a few more years, we were blessed to have the ones we did.

A graduate of Rosemount High School in 1998, Jo continued her education at Concordia, earning a business degree in 2005. She had a deep passion for the outdoors, found joy in caring for her many kittens, and shared memorable white-water canoeing adventures with her dad and brothers. Jo was actively engaged in her church community, contributing to service trips, the National Youth Gathering, confirmation programs, and Sunday School teachings. She excelled in sports, playing soccer in RAAA and high school teams, and participated in DECA conventions. Her interest in politics was sparked during her role as a Paige in the Minnesota legislature in 1999. Jo built lasting friendships while engaging in her love for dirt track racing at Cedar Lake, where she also supported her brother, Chris's endeavors.

Jo was the most amazing mom to her kids, Joey and Emma. She shared a special bond with Emma, taking her on as her own since she was two years old. Jo never missed any hockey or La Crosse games, coached Emma's soccer team through the years, and watched all of Emma’s quarter midget races. She enjoyed camping, especially "flinking" (floating and drinking on the lake) with her friends and driving the side by side at her camper in Wisconsin. Jo enjoyed traveling, whether it was to a sunny beach, or to a racetrack, especially "Turn 3" at Cedar Lake Speedway. In the winter she enjoyed snowmobiling and spending time with her parents in Florida.

Jo was the best wife and best friend to everyone with her witty humor and kind heart. She appreciated all the friends in her "tribe" who supported her through her cancer journey. Last but not least, she loved her tequila! She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Jo leaves behind her loving husband, Peter Ingebrigtsen; children, Emma and Joey (Bree) Ingebrigtsen; parents, Kathryn and Ronald Carlson; brothers, Christopher (Traci) Carlson and Benjamin (Krista) Carlson; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Janet and Bary Ingebrigtsen; sister-in-law, Brandy (Andy) Aitkin; along with two nieces and seven nephews.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, William and Francis Brooks and Clifford and Lucille Carlson; aunt, Lynn Brooks and uncles, Donald Kuhn and Philip Heidi.
