Joann C. Osmer

JoAnn Osmer, age 89, died on January 15, 2023 from complications of Alzheimer's disease.

JoAnn was born in Amherst, Ohio on January 19, 1933. She graduated from high school in Berlin Heights, Ohio and went on to pursue getting a college master's degree at Ohio Wesleyan College in Delaware, Ohio. She retired from Arbella Insurance, Boston, Massachusetts as a director in 1998 and moved to Sarasota, Florida where she lived most of all her retirement years. She was very active in volunteering at The Members of the Audubon Society, The Marie Selby Botanical Gardens, The John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art, The Unitarian Universalist Church of Sarasota, Florida, and ushering at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall in Sarasota. JoAnn enjoyed sailing, kayaking, and loved all types of wildlife and plant life, especially trees.

She is preceded in death by her husband, William H. Osmer; daughter, Katherine H. Osmer; mother and father, Anna Bertha Helena Aldrich and James "John" Aldrich; and sisters, Nadine A. Henry and Dorothy Brundage.

JoAnn is survived by her son, William Osmer, of Prescott, WI; nieces and nephews, John Henry, James Henry, Cindy Brundage, Nora Pulley, Sharon Gaston, Bonnie Lowry; and JoAnn's lifelong friend, Delight Heckelman of Berlin Heights, Ohio.
