Joan M. Hicks, age 87, of Hastings passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on July 28, 2023.
Joan was a graduate of Hastings High School in 1954 where she met the love of her life, Charles Hicks, and was married on May 3, 1958 at Guardian Angels Church. Growing up on 4th and Tyler St. in Hastings, she loved her dog Pudgy and shared many stories of their adventures. Her interests included dance and being an avid reader of Harlequin Romance Novels. She loved sports, especially the Vikings and Gopher Football where she was a season ticket holder for many years. She would always say how lucky she was to have lived in Hastings and cherished the community.
Preceded in death by her loving husband of 46 years, Charles; parents, Hazel Victoria Torgerson (McHaffie) and Robert Charles Hadlich Sr.; Stepfather, Julian Torgerson; Stepmother, Ester Hadlich; siblings, Robert "Bob" Charles Hadlich Jr., and Robin Hadlich.
She is survived by her sons, Patrick (Kathleen) Hicks, Paul Hicks (Susanne Givens), Wayne (Lori) Hicks; grandchildren, Nathan (Melissa) Hicks, Nicole (David) Barber, Jenna (Nick Teske) Hicks, Jamie (Ryan) Stapleton, and Danielle Hicks; great-grandchildren, Autumn & Alexandria Hicks, Kaylee Nunn, Cole Nunn, Emma Hicks, Wyatt Hicks, Chloe Hicks, Gavin Barber, Caelan Barber, and Norah Stapleton; half-brother, Mark (Nancy) Hadlich; sister-in-law, Carole Hadlich; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, August 3rd at 1:00 PM at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church with a visitation one hour prior. Burial will take place at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Cemetery. Reception to follow burial at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred.
