Jean L. (Hoeft) Raway

Jean Linda (Hoeft) Raway, age 72, of Hastings, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully on December 21, 2023, at her home.

Born on July 8, 1951, to Lloyd and Clarice Hoeft, Jeanne graduated from Red Wing High School in 1969 and furthered her education at Winona State College. On June 1, 1974, she married the love of her life, Robert "Bob" Raway, at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church. Jeanne, a devoted mother to Nathan and Jenna Raway, embraced the grace of adoption, instilling her values and beliefs in adoption upon her children.

Throughout her career, Jeanne worked as a legal secretary at various law firms in Hastings and St. Paul, finding her true calling at the Dakota County prosecutor's office, where she dedicated 15 years of her professional life.

Known for her selflessness and perpetual smile, even in challenging times, Jeanne consistently went the extra mile to connect with others. She tirelessly worked to guide her loved ones through life, expressing boundless love for her grandchildren and indulging them with affection.

Jeanne cherished moments with Bob, extended family, and had a passion for collecting antiques and shopping. She possessed a keen eye for color, a flair for decorating and fashion, and thoroughly enjoyed capturing memories through photography.

Preceded in death by her parents, Jeanne is survived by her husband, Bob; son, Nate (Amy) Raway; daughter, Jenna Raway (Josh Armstrong); grandchildren, Cora Raway, Elle Fuchs, Carson and Carissa Armstrong, Henrick and Jonathan Raway; brother, John (Lois) Hoeft; sisters, Janet (Duane) Daley, June Books, and Jetty Hoeft; and Elle’s family.

A Celebration of Jean's Life is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at Resurrection United Methodist Church, 615 15th St. W. in Hastings.

Family and friends are invited for visitation on Tuesday, January 2, 2023, from 4:00 - 7:00 PM at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel, 3075 Vermillion St. in Hastings, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. A reception will follow the service at the church on Wednesday.
