James W. Polglase

James W. "Jim" Polglase, age 81 of Hastings, died peacefully at United Hospital on Friday morning, March 29, 2024.

James William, the son of Ralph and Bernadine (Gergen) Polglase, was born on September 22, 1942, in Sparta, Wisconsin. At a young age, Jim's family moved to Hastings where he attended school, played sports, and graduated with the class of 1961. He then continued his education at St. John's University graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in Philosophy. On February 8, 1969, Jim was united in marriage to Verle Rose at the Church of the Nativity in Bloomington. They made their home in St. Paul and raised two daughters, Dana and Kimberly. Jim was a longtime Job Counselor for the State of Minnesota. He enjoyed playing and following tennis and was a big Johnnies football fan throughout his life. James loved the opportunity to go fishing and play chess.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and by his wife, Verle.

Jim is survived by his daughters, Dana (Johnny) DeHaan and Kimberly Polglase; grandchildren, Matthew and Jacob DeHaan and Christopher Hartman; sister, Linda Polglase; and by other relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Jim's Life will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 27, 2024, at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings. Private family interment will be held at Lakeside Cemetery in Hastings.

Family and friends are cordially invited to a visitation for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Saturday, April 27.

Due to allergies, Jim's family kindly requests no flowers be sent to the service.
