James J. Estlund

James J. Estlund, age 75, of Hastings, MN, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 19, 2024.

James was born on 05/04/49 to Ralph and Irene (Tubby and Tootie) Estlund. James attended Hastings High School, where he excelled at boxing, football, and wrestling. He worked as a pipefitter and retired from Koch Refinery, where he was a proud union member.

He was an avid car enthusiast, clock repairman, collector, passionate about sports, and loved to keep a meticulous lawn. He enjoyed walking his dog, and was a mainstay on 2nd street every day.

James is survived by his children Jacqueline Bonenko, Nels (Moriah) Estlund, and Cody (Charity) Estlund; grandchildren Aleksandra, Benjamin, James, Jade, and Owen; sister Sharon Swanson; nephews Tom Reinardy and Jamie Smith; niece Sarah Swanson; great friend Charlie Rehfield, and many others.

He was preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Irene (Tubby and Tootie) Estlund; sister Bonnie Smith; and nephew Robert Swanson.

A visitation for James will be held on Monday, November 25, 2024 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel, 3075 Vermillion Street, Hastings, MN.

Interment will be at Lakeside Cemetery in Hastings.
