Irene Rebischke of Rosemount, MN, passed away on Friday, July 7, 2023, at the age of 81. She was born on December 15, 1941, in Darmstadt, Germany, and grew up in the neighboring towns of Egelsbach and Langen.
At the age of 20, she left her job working as a typist for the railroad in Germany to move by boat to the United States to work at an insurance company, INA, in St. Louis, MO. She eventually transferred to Minneapolis, MN, as the state of Minnesota reminded her of Germany. On August 24, 1963, she married Dennis Rebischke and they were blessed with five children, Sharon, Michael, Mark, Sandra, and Brenda. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, and reading, but traveling was always her passion! Her travels took her to many cities and national parks from coast to coast, as well as numerous countries abroad.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Heinrich Bindewald and Friederike Anthes; stepfather, Jakob Anthes; her husband, Dennis Rebischke; and son, Mark (Kris) Rebischke.
She is survived by her children, Sharon (Tim) Vang; Michael (Carrie) Rebischke; Sandra Haugo; and Brenda (Mike) Mohrhauser; daughter-in-law, Kris Rebischke; and her eight grandchildren, Kayla Rebischke; Jessica Rebischke; Joshua Vang; Clay Haugo; Ben Rebischke; Tyler Rebischke; Jamie Vang; and Thomas Haugo.
