Harry J. Mathison

Harry James Mathison, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on January 8, 2024, at the age of 79, in Hastings, MN. Born on November 30, 1944, in Edgerton, Wisconsin, Harry was the son of Harry Mathison and Olive Tann.


After graduating from high school, Harry bravely served his country as a member of the Navy. Upon his return, he married Dottie Sandeen, and together they had a son, James. The family resided in Edgerton until the untimely passing of Dottie.


Harry dedicated his career to the railroad industry, working diligently for many years. After moving to Tomah, Wisconsin, he met Patricia Doolan, and the two of them were joined in marriage. They shared many wonderful moments enjoying activities such as bowling, golfing, and taking motorcycle trips out of the state. Harry had a passion for horse racing and loved spending time in the poker room at the casino and playing bingo.


In the mid-1980s, Harry, along with his family, relocated to Hastings, Minnesota, where he continued his successful career with the railroad. His unwavering support for the Green Bay Packers brought him joy and excitement year after year. After a fulfilling career, Harry retired at the age of 60 and found pleasure in playing cards at the senior center.


Harry was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Olive Mathison; his wife, Dottie and second wife, Patricia; stepchildren, Tom Suhr, Brad Suhr, Jeff Suhr and Connie Westerman.


He is survived by his son, James (Monica) Mathison. Harry also leaves behind seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.


A Celebration of Harry's Life will be held at a later date.
