Gloria J. Kavitz

Gloria Jean Kavitz, age 81, of Hastings, passed away peacefully at United Hospital on Friday, July 26, 2024.

Born on May 10, 1943, in Hastings, MN, to Sylvester and Gertrude (Zeien) Girgen, Gloria married the love of her life, Ronald A. Kavitz, on May 2, 1964. They shared 27 years of happiness before his passing on November 28, 1991.

Gloria dedicated 33 years to her career as a bookkeeper at Bahls Motor & Implement before retiring. She was passionate about embroidery, crocheting, crafting, and solving crossword puzzles, cherishing the moments spent with her family most of all.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Sylvester and Gertrude; her beloved husband, Ronald; and her son, Jeffrey.

Gloria is survived by her daughter, Maleia (Joel) Bonin; son, Ronald; grandchildren: Britni (Nicholas) Peterson, Brianna & Brock Berres, Ashley (Jake) Crabb, Amanda (Jesse) Zurek, Alyssa (Brandon) Booth, and Cody (Kayla Kobs) Kavitz; great-grandchildren: Carter, Charlotte, & Claire Peterson, Addison, Jessa, Benjamin & baby girl Zurek due in September, Charlotte, Mylah, & Finnegan Booth; siblings, Dr. Walter (Cathy) Girgen, Janice (Jeff) Kolmer, and Caroyl (Dayton) Robinson and many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will celebrate Gloria’s life at 11 am on Friday, August 2, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 15th St W, Hastings, MN 55033, with a visitation one hour prior to Mass at the church. Burial will follow at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the care of Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel.
