Gary K. Hilden

Gary K. Hilden, age 88, passed away at United Hospital in St. Paul, MN on December 19, 2022.

He was born on March 11,1934 to Kenneth and Vivian (Hungerford) Hilden. He attended school in Reeder, N. Dakota graduating in 1952. He was united in marriage to Florence Berg on June 13, 1956, and five children were born to this union. He was united in marriage to Sandra (Swale) Meier Hilden on Oct. 13, 1984 and became stepfather to her two boys.

He worked many jobs in the agricultural field at Farmer's Union Co-op in Reeder, North Dakota, South Dakota Farmer’s Union in Huron S. Dakota, Tri County Co-op in Brown's Valley, MN. and Farmer's Union Co-op in Hampton. Mn. He later worked for Ship It Express and Hagen Trucking hauling garbage, charter bus for Hastings Bus Co. and parts runner for Valley Chevrolet. Gary was a member of the Hastings Police Reserve from 1975-1993 retiring as Captain.

He and his wife Sandy enjoyed many travels with their friends, Robert and JoAnn Hofstad and John and Barbara Bauer. Gary liked to read, bowl, and attend sports events of children and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Florence; his parents; grandson, Cody Hilden; and brothers and sisters-in-law.

He is survived by his wife, Sandy; his children, Claudia Dobin , Catherine Davis, Jody (Fred Stanford), Dennis (Mary), Douglas (Linda Breuer); stepsons, Scott (Dawn Wagenaar) Meier, Brian (Julie) Meier; grandchildren, Amanda Hilden, Kenny (Brittany) Davis, Andy (Courtney) Davis, and Bella Meier; great-grandchildren, Isabella (Izzy) and Tyler Davis, Henry Davis, Leighton and Libby Meier; sisters, Marcia Wiebe and Cheryl Crook; and many other friends and relatives.

A memorial gathering will be held at a later date.
